It's Ok.

Both XFire and GameSpy actually need the old master server, so that doesn't help.

They apparently use a different server than what was taken down, as they both list servers.

Speaking of which, is there any way I could manually register a server in the new master list if I don't want to use your modified AvP2Serv.exe (I'll lose IP Banning, and other features, if I do).

Hi Andy,
Well, Rommie already has a server built to use the new master server (see http://rommie.lithfaq.com ).

Registering the server however is only half the deal. In order to join the server, the client side cshell.dll and the one specified to the server (if no rez specified in customrez.txt, it's the regular 1.096 version chell.dll) must be the same. That basically means that a modded client to use the new master server can end up not being able to join the server, although it is listed.

Further more, since it doesn't use the new communication protocol, it will not be able to update the number of players joining or leaving, or when the map changes. And if there's no update for a server within an hour, it is then removed from the database.

Now, the best approach is to use either rommie's server (to still have the IP banning in) or have the guys that build your server contact me for an archive of needed files. I am considering a tutorial accompanying these files, but that won't come out sooner than the weekend.

Do servers using the new patch from Herr Alien appear in the xfire server list ?? In xfire I see only 2 people playing online. I see the stargate servers online and all these SG servers are running on the patch so therefore xfire shows all servers running on the new patch ? Just need some confirmation please.

Xfire lists all servers which are available, nomatter if they use the patch or not. You can be sure the servers where are people online or mention the new master server in their names are using the patch usually.

Thanks for the response!

I would be your man, in that regard. Right now, I have combined your Cshell.dll with a custom version of Bunny-S's server mod. I can join via GSA just fine. However, I thought it would be useful to have it listed in the server list. I have been tweaking this mod to improve hit detection. If you would like, I can share my findings with you sometime.

Ok I just reinstalled and and reinstalled the mod and put "-rez AVP2P5.rez" in the command line and the same thing happened! I went to the server browser and the program just closed and there is the same error message that says...


"Client MFC Application has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."


I have no idea what I am doing wrong! I have been playing this game fine for years but I guess I just have to wait for the mod to be updated or something.

I don't like to complain and this mod looks great but I am very worried if I will ever be able to play online again :cry:


I am on Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit if that is any help I guess I just need to wait it out and just play single player.


Anyways thanks for the mod and thanks for tolerating me I'm sorry but I can't figure this out.
