When AVP2 was first released by Sierra/Monolith, players connecting to the in-game Master Server Browser saw that a check was being made for available updated versions of the game. If one was available, they were then re-directed to a site where they could effectuate the download.

Is it possible for you to configure the Modded Master Server Browser to check for available updates in the server side/ client side browser files?

In other words, server administrators and players would automatically be re-directed to a download site. This would minimize confusion as to whether, and from where, browser updates could be downloaded.

Of course, anything is possible. It's Either that or we can make an autoupdater that's run just before avp2 is launched. Stay tuned....

Ok, I have read thru and thru these posts.... Here's my situation....

My dedicated server shows up on the list but still can't join it. I can join all the others though.
I installed Rommies server application and followed the instructions. had the server company execute the program and it showed up on the list. Is there a step I am missing?
I installed the lithfaq update patch and client app on my end (Program Files in CPU). Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.....

Hi,

This looks like the server running a different/other mod(s) than the client.
Check two things: the command line parmeter for AvP2.exe and the customrez.txt file. They should contain all the same rez files.

hey guys, i'm experiencing technical difficulties regarding your patch. for 3 days in a row i'm trying to get the patch to work ... my work methods were ; 1. i've installed it in my main directory ( also updated it ) and i've added the rez to my command-line ( -rez AVP2P5.rez ), it turns i constantly keep crashing when i try to load the list. i've tried to replace the rez and put it in a custom folder this method is not working for me either. so i unrezzed the file and i made a new folder and tried it with the -rez newfolder way. this did not work either ... i tried removing cshell.dll from my temp folder within my operating system. this did not help either, i tried reinstalling avp2 together with the 1096 patch and this did not work for me either. someone help me regarding this for i've tried most methods possible that could restrict me from playing the game itself . i'm running a windows XP 32 bit machine, considering the patch works for everyone. it would work for me.
ps: someone tried to tell me i should reformat, but reformat will not get me anywhere closer than this

Hey Connor

Were looking into the matter of the crash... As for someone suggesting to format.. its a lot to swallow, but it may work. However I wouldnt format. I have no idea what the new dll calls for... It could be something so simple as the .Net framework needed to be updated. Or the C++ 2005 redistributable.

Have you installed the .net framework 2.0 and the C++ 2005 redistributable from Microsoft?

I'm having the exact same problem but I am on Windows Vista and I have no idea what to do.

I am at my wits end trying to figure out what to do but I have one more idea, I will just uninstall the game and reinstall and then I wont install the patch but I will only install the mod and see if that works and if not... I will just have to hold out hope that Herr_Alien and whoever else is working on this can fix it otherwise I am screwed.

Alright that didn't seem to do anything whatsoever... the game still crashed at the server list and it still gave me the same error so the only thing I can do now is hold out hope that you guys can figure out how to fix this.

my customrez.text file in the server has only this....
[Rez]
Rez0="2.1.REZ"

The 2.1.REZ is in the main directory. Rommie told me I needed to make sure that AVP2P5.REZ is in there as well, it is. I have gone over and overwritten all the new Rez files from Rommies link on here. I tried adding this Rez1="AVP2P5.REZ" to the customrez.text file as well and no luck. I agree that something on the server side is messed up or missing something, I just do not know what i am doing wrong. Over the years I have hosted many different mods so am not a stranger to changing it up.

The command line for AVP2.exe I am unsure about. On the client side, I can join every other server on the list, so am assuming its an issue on the server end. Is there something I need to change on the command line changer to the server itself? I have never had to do that before. I'm not sure at this point, am a little frustrated.
